Kandrea is expanding rapidly and we are currently seeking Industrial Insulators for a project in Conklin Alberta. This is a camp project and operates on a rotation of 14 and 7, 10 hours per day. All successful candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test.

Position Summary

Insulators apply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation (e.g., calcium silicate, cellular glass, mineral wool, Styrofoam, fibreglass) on all types of industrial equipment (e.g., ducting, piping, heat exchangers, tanks and vessels).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Uses coaching skills for mentoring and training apprentices
  • Describes the materials used and identifies areas where fireproofing and fire stopping are used in a building system
  • Recognizes the various applications and identify materials used in various spray applications
  • Identifies and describes the various components of a commercial process system
  • Understands, identifies and describes the components and materials used in an Industrial system
  • Defines terms, identifies applications, outlines layout process, fabricates and installs of pan-out and cut outs, concentric reducer, eccentric reducer, square to round transition, square to square transition, spherical or elliptical head, gored butterfly elbow and lateral fitting without supervision
  • Identifies the terms and applications for pre-insulated panels
  • Identifies the applications for removable soft covers
  • Outlines the layout process, fabricates and installs removable box coverings on piping and equipment without supervision
  • Interprets mechanical drawings to describe processes, identifies their divisions and components related to specifications and addendums related to an industrial system
  • Identifies, defines and applies information found on ISO and P&ID drawings for the application of insulating materials without supervision
  • Determines quantities by executing a full project takeoff of required documents, interpret specifications and addendums and calculate the total amount of materials needed for project
  • Estimates the complete project costs for a given project, unit price, man-hours and manpower costs without supervision
  • Identifies and uses Red Seal products to prepare for an Interprovincial Exam
  • Safety is everyone’s responsibility and you are responsible to look out for yourself and those around you

Education & Experience

  • Previous experience with glycol heat tracing
  • Journeyman must complete 6068 hours
  • 3rd Year must complete 4551 hours
  • 2nd Year must complete 3034 hours
  • 1st Year must complete 1517 hours
  • Post-secondary or technical training is an asset
  • Static equipment experience (such as vessels, heat exchange, etc.)
  • Strong experience in pipe insulation
  • Safety tickets including: CSTS, Fall Protection, H2S Alive,

Physical & Other Requirements
